The Musical Journey 2010

Well, we completed our 6-month contract at the Fremont – Newark Hilton on December 4th.  Again, I want to thank all of my friends and family who came out to support me and the group.  We met a lot of new people and made new friends.  I also want to thank the audience for coming out to support us and for showing us so much love and appreciation for what we do.

Unfortunately, we were not chosen to return for the 2011 season and I know that a number of our “new” fans are disappointed with management for this choice.  Well, the truth of the matter is that management in most establishments do not understand the “business” of music and how to work with entertainment.  That is why the local music scene is suffering here in the Bay Area.  The most important thing that they fail to understand is that we are “entertainers and performers” NOT promoters.  Most places fail to even have a budget for entertainment.  Also, management must understand that it takes TIME for things to catch on.  Therefore you need more than 6 months to create a following AND the business needs to advertise that music is happening at their place of business.

I could go on and on but if the local businesses / venues are not willing to work with bands or try learn about the “business of music,” the local music scene will continue to suffer.  It’s so sad that many of my friends and fellow musicians are not living or working outside of the U.S. because they cannot make a living.

So please support you local musicians and if you hear a band playing that you like, tell management.  If they want people to patronize their businesses they need to provide “quality” entertainment.

Again, “thank you all for your support this past year and Happy Holidays to you all!!”

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait!!

Beginning July 2 – 3, 2010, me and The Quadraphonics will debut at the Fremont Hilton in Fremont, CA.  I have just signed a 6-month contract with the hotel, so we will be playing there until December 2010.  Wow!  I’m so excited.  It’s nice to be playing so close to home on a “consistent” basis.

So for all of my friends & family who wished that I played more in the East Bay… you got your wish.  I look forward to seeing you all there.   Also, you can keep up with me or become my friend on Facebook.  Just search Tonette Jeanine and you will find me.

See you soon!!

What’s Going On

I am happy to report that I am now one of the musical acts / performers at Enrico’s Sidewalk Cafe in San Francisco.

My debut was in the month of February, and the owner Seamus Cronin was so happy with my performance that I am now in rotation in their musical lineup.  This is really a blessing as I have been trying to secure a consistent and recurring gig in SF for the past couple of years.  The venue has been renovated and it looks fabulous.  The food menu has been re-vamped and the food is excellent.  Enrico’s is now offering music on a “weekly” basis and you can check their web site for their monthly music calendar (www.enricossf.com).

Please note that my next performance will be on Friday, May 21, 2010… 9 days before my birthday.  Since I will most likely be out of town on my actual birthday, I will be celebrating my birthday at this gig with my family, fans and friends.  So, if you’re not busy on this date, please come out to enjoy the music and my pre-birthday celebration.

I would like to thank Seamus for this opportunity and for giving local musicians a place to play.  Unfortunately, this recession has affected the music industry and musicians as well and a lot of venues are no longer offering live music.  So, come out on May 21st to support me, Enrico’s restaurant and to thank Seamus for offering musical opportunities to local musicians.

Until then… Be Well!!

T. J.

My Sincere Thanks!

I wanted to send a heartfelt “Thanks” to all who attended my Christmas Show this past weekend.  It was a “rainy” night and many of you still came out to support me and live music @ Armando’s.  While we were few in number due to the weather… we were “high in spirit!”

Thanks again for your love and support.  Looking forward to performing for you in 2010!
